| On the 20th of August 1949 Philomena Lynott gave birth to what was to become arguably the greatest frontman to ever grace the rock stage, She gave birth to Philip Paris Lynott. Phil Lynott is better known as the Bass Player and Singer for the criminally underated rock outfit Thin Lizzy, hitting the big time in 1973 with Irish Traditional cover "Whiskey in the jar", Phil Lynott went on to produce some of the greatest rock songs ever written by a man, I mean how many times have you stomped your foot to the likes of The Boys are back in town. Perhaps Thin Lizzys best years can be classed as the late seventies to the early eighties, but Phil carried on producing the goods right up until he died. Lynott's last years were dogged by drug dependency, and the night of December 25 in 1985, he had a health breakdown caused by a heroin overdose, collapsed and was sent to Salisbury Infirmary, where he died on January 4, 1986 at the age of 36. | ![]() |
